Why Choose Camp Fontanelle?
Camp Fontanelle provides a safe space for campers to belong, have opportunities for growth, and to become leaders. The benefits of getting kids (and adults!) outdoors, unplugged, and together are backed by science!
Our primary goal is to provide a safe, fun, Christ-centered experience for all our campers. We are accredited by the American Camping Association which has high standards for camper safety and program experience. Our counselors complete two weeks of training prior to the start of camp each summer. They learn best practices for working with different age groups of children, first aid and CPR, leading Bible studies, and more. We have a health coordinator on staff to handle camper medications and any bumps and scrapes that can sometimes occur while enjoying the great outdoors. Camp Fontanelle is part of the Great Plains United Methodist Conference and all adults working with children are certified through Safe Gatherings and have undergone a background check.
We are happy to speak with prospective families to answer any questions about the experience their child(ren) will have at Camp Fontanelle. We also offer tours throughout the year for families that would like to see the site and meet some of the staff before making a decision. You can contact the office to set up a time to tour with a staff member, 402-478-4296 or email fontanelle@greatplainsumc.org
I have registered my child for camp. What's next?
You should receive a confirmation email shortly after submitting the registration(s). Each camper receives a welcome letter and a fun surprise in the mail after registration as well.
If you are a first-time camper family we have a page of information just for you! Check it out here
Welcome packets with check-in and check-out times and program specific information are sent beginning in early May by mail to each camper. You can find a digital copy of the generic welcome packet here: Welcome Packet
If you did not yet fill out your camper’s medical form please make sure to do so at least a week before arriving at camp. We prefer for parents/guardians to complete those forms online through our registration platform campfontanelle.campbrainregistration.com If for some reason that is not possible you can download and print copies of the forms here Please either scan and email the completed forms to asiver@greatplainsumc.org or mail them to Camp Fontanelle, 9677 County Rd 3, Fontanelle, NE 68044
If you have any questions prior to arriving at camp you can always reach out to the camp staff. Our office hours are Monday through Friday 8:30am – 4:30pm. Our office number is 402-478-4296, email fontanelle@greatplainsumc.org
We hold an Open House each year prior to the start of the camp season to give campers and parents a chance to tour the site, meet the staff, ask questions, and experience some camp activities. Check the calendar of events here for this year’s event information.
My child loved camp! How can we stay engaged throughout the year?
We love to stay in contact with camper families throughout the year! Campers receive a group photo of their camper group in the fall, a Christmas card, a new camp brochure in January for the following summer, birthday card and fun sticker, and early bird discount postcard in the spring. Plus some periodic emails!
We also LOVE to connect families to local churches in their area, if they don’t already have one, so they can continue to grow in a faith community year-round.
There are also sometimes opportunities for campers to come back to camp during the year to reunite with their friends from camp. Stay tuned to the upcoming events page for information on those possibilities.
