With 3 targets available for use and an archery net to stop those errant shots, find that Robin Hood in you in Camp Fontanelle forest. Camp Fontanelle has 14 Genesis Compound bows which are also used by the National Archery in Schools Program. With left and right handed bows available learn to shoot like a pro. A trained facilitator to lead this activity is required and a fee is charged for archery.
Great for small group teambuilding, our facilitators will help your group to find strengths as they learn to support each other. With team challenges, spotting techniques, and time on low course elements such as Nitro Crossing, the Meat grinder, the 10 foot wall, TP Shuffle, the Catwalk, Porthole, Mohawk walk, Trust fall and more your group must fuse together to conquer the elements. Typically groups of 12 or less is best for work on the course. More than one group can participate at a time. A trained facilitator is required to lead this activity and a fee is charged for the initiatives/low ropes course.
The little ones delight in bouncing in these inflatable playhouses. Our 13'x13' bounce houses with entertain that energetic Tigger in your brood. Drain the Energizer bunny in your child for a promised good night rest with our bounce house. Adult supervision is required at all times. Bounce houses are not used available when winds exceed 25 miles per hour.
With 150 acres of woods, Camp Fontanelle has an abundance of firewood. Campfire rings are found throughout the camp with 13 different campfire sites available. All visiting groups are welcome to use campfire sites while visiting. Inquire about which site best suits your needs. Some sites are not to be used in dry or windy weather. Extinguish campfires when finished.
Camp Fontanelle is the perfect place to bring your school class, girl scout troop, boy scout troop, or any group for a field trip. With 180 acres and 5 miles of trails, many opportunities for outdoor education exist. Inquire about potential outdoor activities for your group. A compass course and scavenger hunts are available as well as Project Wet, Project Wild, and Learning Tree resources. The pumpkin patch and corn maze are available in the fall for groups to visit by reservation during the week as well. Set a date for your group to enjoy the great outdoors at Camp Fontanelle!
Camp Fontanelle has many games from which to choose. Options include: tetherball, 9 square (same as 4 square but up to 9 players), basketball, sand volleyball, horseshoes, gaga ball, 9 square in the air (same as 9 square except played with a grid overhead), ringmaster, ladder ball, stumps, washers, moleball, human foosball, fort, big chess, and carpetball. Indoor games for overnight groups in the Lodge include ping pong, shuffleboard, foos ball, and a pool table.
During the fall corn maze season, hayrack rides are available every weekend and by reservation. Rides may be given by request from guest groups as well. There is an extra charge for rides outside of corn maze season.
With over 5 total miles of trails, hikers can enjoy the diverse plant and animal life at Camp Fontanelle. Trails are mowed 5' wide regularly. Being along the Elkhorn River valley, terrain is often steep and not for the tenderfoot. Buttermilk Creek, a small stream fed by springs, cuts across the camp. Many deciduous trees including towering cottonwoods as well as beautiful firs, pine, and spruce trees on Christmas tree hill provide a perfect habitat for a variety of birds. Animals inhabiting the woods include squirrels, rabbits, deer, raccoons, bobcats, opossums, coyotes, foxes, and ground hogs. Please contact the camp for permission prior to visiting to hike. A 31'x65' jumping pillow was installed in 2011 and a 2nd one in 2015. Permanently installed in the ground and surrounded by 100 tons of sand, this heart pounding attraction is not for the faint of heart. Enjoyed by kids and kids at heart of all ages, the jumping pillow is addictive. While rough play and inverted flips are never allowed, a good time is guaranteed. The jumping pillow is also available for overnight slumber parties on ‘the pillow' with a clear country view of the night sky on a clear night. The pillow is included in the price of a corn maze ticket during the corn maze season. Adult supervision is required. Fee for guest use.
Donkeys and rabbits and goats, oh my! The petting barn is a favorite for those animal lovers. With friendly animals all around, all ages enjoy the diverse assortment of animals. Depending on the time of year, alpacas, peacocks, sheep, chickens, duck, geese, and ponies might also be found in the petting barn vicinity. Open on movie nights, the petting barn has animal food vending machines with alpaca and goat food available for 2 quarters. Picnic tables under a lean to are available. A wash sink with paper towels and soap is just outside the barn. A big 19' x 30' stage and 10' x 10' sand box are just to the north of the petting barn along with 6 campfire rings. Games in the petting barn vicinity include stumps, ringmaster, ladder ball, tic-tac-toe, ladder ball, washers, and a wall with funnels and chutes on magnets so kids and kids at heart can make their own course for marbles to run.
Summer is not summer without swimming. Our 30'x60' pool was completed in May of 2013. With a 7' deep end and 2 1/2 foot shallow end, there is a perfect depth for all ages! With 104 rated capacity, our pool is a perfect place for your group to cool off! With a basketball hoop and lights at night, any time is a good time for a game. The pool is available from Memorial Day to mid-August by reservation only. A lifeguard is provided or you may provide your own with proof of proper certification.
In 2013 two 350' zip lines were completed with the screams of delight heard echoing through the trees. A person jumps off a 20' tower and rides across a big ravine landing with a running stop on the other side. The fun is not over because then the rider climbs another tower and zips back across the ravine back to the start! Visiting groups can enjoy the zip line by reservation. The zip line is available on weekends in the fall when the corn maze is open, for 2 hours prior to the start of movies on movie nights, and by reservation.
Groups visiting during the winter months can enjoy our 150' long sledding hill complete with outdoor light for night sledding. Only smooth sleds or tubes please (saucer type, inner tubes or sledding tubes, plastic flat bottomed sled with no grooves) to keep the runs smooth and faster. With a shorter hill, sledders must walk up along the sides for safety and to keep the sledding runs smooth for faster runs.
